Introduced in 1926, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual was the first waterproof watch offered by Rolex and was even worn by Mercedes Gleitze in 1927 when she became the first woman to swim across the English Channel. She also became the first to swim the Straight of Gibraltar, all while a waterproof Rolex adorned her wrist.
